Soko

Stéphanie Sokolinski (Soko) has been all over the blog-o-sphere lately with her song ‘I’ll Kill Her’ and chances are that you have heard it, or heard of her.  Shes not only one of the cutest girls ever, but her voice is something else. While ‘I’ll Kill Her’ has a cute charm, her others, ‘Take My Heart’ and ‘It’s Raining Outside’, from her EP (and only release) are possibly two of the cutest songs I have ever heard.

Have a listen over at her myspace.

Max Headroom Video Pirate

In 1987, Chicago TV channels WGN9 and WTTW-11 were hijacked by this guy wearing a Max Headroom mask. 20 years later, he is still at large.

This is a subtitled version of the original footage, since many people cannot tell what he’s saying, this makes it easier.

Wii Light Sword

This is the one thing I was waiting out for when the Wii was released. Sure Red Steal allowed you to use the sword in a ‘Light Saber’ kind of way, but its never the same. While its not an offical accessory (meaning its not made by Nintendo), it still looks the best fun. It sports a power up / down effect to with its 22 ultra-bright LEDs and an on / off switch for good measure. It requires a trio of AA cells to stay lit.

Girl Talk Internet Mixtape

Girl Talk is quite possibily the greatest mash up DJ you would ever hear. I rememeber reading somewhere that he ‘makes songs that youve always hated into something you will love’ and it is exactly what he does. He has released three (studio? haha) albums, but his live shows are where it is all at. Over at Good Weather For Airstrikes they have uploaded a live set recording from Seattle from the 27th of Janurary earlier this year - and dont worry - its good quality. Go grab it now!

The Force!

I hate stealing from other blogs, especially ones that I love so much (thanks Lifelounge) but I really couldnt resist here.

This is the best fucking backpack I have ever seen! Heres what has been written over at Lifelounge:

You see, some people would disagree with me and say that Star Wars is dead. Well if it’s dead, why do we keep seeing so many AWESOME products come out like this one here?

Low and behold we have the Chewbacca backpack. On top of that I also found a Yoda backpack that to be quite honest is even better because Yoda was small, and sat on Luke’s back, much like this backpack.

In homage to Star Wars, I am also going to be the monkey on Luke’s back, and keep posting things about Star Wars until everyone comes around. All I can say is fuck you George Lucas for screwing up the memory of the original three movies with those dog turn new ones, now an entire generation thinks that your movies suck.

You can pick one up over at ThinkGeek for $39.99.

Ian Stevenson

Im surpirsed I havent already posted about one of my most favourite illustrators, one of the greaters uses of pens that I have ever seen, Ian Stevenson. His biography on his site describe him as ‘a very interesting man, for he is a man of all seasons, a man from that glowing cultural node of all Greatest Britain’ and I honestly couldnt agree much more. His works are borderline freaky and strange, all the while looking brilliant. One of my favourites of his works is from when he was asked to go to Paris for Punk’s 10th annivarsary and ‘draw on the walls at their party‘. It can be found here.

While the rest of his work, Exhibitions, and his own shop can be found on his offical site - the nicely named ilikedrawing.co.uk.

I’m, not, sure.

I’ve gotten some compaints about my blog not being personal enough, which is strange because a. Obviously there are already no readers, and b. I dont know why people want to hear about my entire young adulthood. I’m agreeing with the compaints though, and im starting a few more personal weekly posts to join the not so personal weekly Artist of the Week. More soon, complainers!

AOTW: Muscles

(Im starting an Artist of the Week, starting RIGHT NOW)

The 22 year old from country town Shepparton, Australia, who has been playing for less than a year is now one of the most exciting electric act to come out of Australia, alongside Midnight Juggernauts. His name is Muscles, the one man band brainchild of Chris Copolus. The werid and smarty crafted electro-tinged pop has found a home at Modular and has gained popularity touring Australia with Parklife.

"I didn’t feel like I really fit into any one scene and thats kind of gave me the opportunity to fit everyone’s scene. In my head some of my stuff sounds reallu poppy and some of it sounds werid, but from the start I wanted to make something that sounded like no one else in the world and I feel like I’ve done that" He recently told Attitude Magazine.

The recent release of his debut album GUNS, BABES, LEMONADE, reached #3 on the Australian Artist Chart and #1 on the Dance Album Chart in its first week.

Visit his offical website or myspace for more news and music.

Just who is Ty Williams anyway?

Ty is a ‘painter drawer and scribbler’ who has had his works published in Eastern Surf Magazine, N-East Magazine, Flagler College Magazine, and the St. Augustine Record. They have also been featured in a number of small artshows in New England and Florida. His works are colourful, unqiue and have even been printed with some small clothing companies, notably one of my favourites Paper Root.
